The last couple of weeks we have been learning so much about vegetable gardens and the life cycle of a plant. The children have enjoyed
- extending their knowledge about what grows in a vegetable garden and on trees through discussions, books and drawings.
- engaging in a plant sequence cutting experience, learning about the life cycle of a plant.
- planting tomato seedlings and sunflower seeds with Marley’s mum Robyn.
- listening to the story ‘The tiny seed’ by Eric Carle
- putting a flower back together and learning the names of the flower parts. We also extended the children’s writing skills by encouraging the children to write the flower part words.
- role playing in the dramatic garden area
This week the children will have the opportunity to plant some seedlings into the kindergartens vegetable garden. We will be planting cucumber and cos lettuce.

- block corner- the children have really been extending their imagination and creativity in the block corner over the last couple of weeks building amazing villages and houses.
- last week the children enjoyed being able to utilise the whole yard, they loved swinging on the hammock, searching for shapes around the yard and dressing up in construction dress ups.
- At group time the children have been enjoying our new game celebrity heads. One child sits up the front with a animal picture on top of the head and with the clues the other children give them they need to guess what the animal is.
