Beginning Kindergarten
Waterfall Gully Preschool recognises that starting kindergarten is exciting for both children and their families.
Some children feel shy and insecure when starting Kindergarten and they may need their mother or father to stay with them for a limited time, perhaps a few days or weeks until they become confident in their environment and with their new teachers.
As we provide longer kindergarten sessions, we anticipate that some children may find this overwhelming. If your child is experiencing difficulty, we encourage you to consider collecting your child earlier. Please discuss your child’s needs with the teacher.
The Preschool offers an inclusive and supportive environment for all children. Each class has children of varying abilities that will require support in different areas. The staff at the Preschool work closely with specialist support services and they will often visit the kindergarten during sessions. These may be speech therapists, occupational therapists and other support personnel. Waterfall Gully Preschool believes a truly inclusive environment benefits the whole community.

- A complete set of spare clothing, named, just in case of accidents!
- A named wide brimmed, legionnaires or bucket style hat for outside play, NO CAPS
- Drink bottle containing water, snack & lunch
- Roll on sunscreen
Children’s Clothing
Please do not send your child to kinder in their best clothes; the freedom of older clothes is less restricting. We do provide smocks for messy activities, but clothes that are easily washable are best. Clothes that are easily managed by the children when going to the toilet etc, are an advantage.
Please do not send your child to kinder wearing thongs and crocs as they are very dangerous on any outdoor climbing equipment. Please ensure each article of your child’s clothing is clearly named.

Birthdays
If your child’s birthday falls on a kinder day, he/she may wish to share this special occasion with the other children. A simple cake or small cakes may be brought to kinder and shared. Please speak to your child’s teacher to arrange discreet distribution of party invitations
Inward Correspondence
In the office door of each room is a letter box. This is for inward correspondence including fundraising monies, permission slips and parent suggestions and feedback.
PLEASE DO NOT PLACE FEE PAYMENTS INTO THIS BOX.
Please inform staff of any change of address or telephone number immediately, in order to keep records current.
Enquiries, Compliments and Complaints
Please feel free at any time to bring any queries or concerns relating to your child or the program, to your child’s teacher. If you need to discuss anything at length it would be helpful to make an appointment to speak with the teacher at a mutually convenient time.
If you feel unable to discuss any problems with your child’s teacher, please contact the Nominated Supervisor/s of the service to make an appointment.
Waterfall Gully Preschool has a Grievances Sub-Committee. Any complaints or grievances can be put in writing and addressed to The Grievances Sub-Committee, and placed in the mail box in your child’s Preschool room. You will then be contacted within 24 hours. If you are not satisfied with the result, you can contact the following member of the Department of Human Services:
