Frequently Asked Questions
How do I enrol my child?
Waterfall Gully Pre School is part of the Mornington Peninsula Shire Central Registration system for enrolling children. Please read the information in the ‘Enrolment’ tab for more information and the link for registration.
When can my child start Kinder?
For 4 year old kinder – Your child must turn 4 years of age before 30th April. They can start attending at the start of Term 1.
For 3 year old kinder – Your child must turn 3 years of age by the 30th April. They can start attending kinder as soon as they turn 3 years of age. For example, if they turn 3 on the 12th March, they can start anytime from the 12th March onwards.
Toilet Training
We understand that each child develops differently. With this in mind, your child can attend Kinder if they are not toilet trained yet. We will work with you to assist with toilet training whenever your child is ready. We have nappy change facilities available as well as small toilets, perfect for kinder aged children. Please ensure your child has changes of clothes in their kinder bag in case of toileting accidents.
Group sizes
Our 4 year old classes have 22 children with a Teacher and an Educator. Our 3 year classes have 20 children with a Teacher and an Educator. Additional educational assistants may be in class based on need and funding.
What to pack in the Kinder bag
Please make sure your child has a full change of clothing that is season appropriate including underwear and socks. The children often engage in play that can be messy or may have a toileting accident. A change of clothes in their bag ensures they are comfortable during their kinder day.
Lunchbox – please pack a snack/lunch box that your child can open. Please include a range of fruit, snacks and lunch that is healthy and appropriate for how long your child is at Kinder. We are a nut-free Kinder due to the risk of anaphylaxis for people attending the service.
Drink bottle – please ensure your child has a drink bottle full of water for their day at Kinder.
Please ensure ALL items are named or labelled.

Play based learning
Play is an essential part of teaching and learning in early childhood education. Children learn to make sense of the world around them through play, including interactions with their teachers and peers. The teachers and educators at Waterfall Gully Pre School develop learning environments that are responsive to the children and their interests ensuring all children have an opportunity to explore, imagine, experiment, investigate and be creative.
