RAP (Reconciliation Action Plan)

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT TO COUNTRY

Waterfall Gully Preschool acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land on which our Centre is located, the Boon Wurrung / Bunurong People.

We thank you for sharing and caring for the land we learn and play on.

We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and future.

VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Waterfall Gully Preschool is committed to reconciliation through making a decision to move on a path of change. We believe that this is where First People’s feel acknowledged and valued, First People’s teachings and knowledge are actively sought, recognised, valued, celebrated and embedded into the program.

This can be achieved through connections and relationships with our local Indigenous Elders and First People’s perspectives, presence and knowledge becoming part of the everyday routines, discussions and understanding of both the staff and children.

Being already strongly dedicated to sustainability and developing a connection with the natural world, this is the natural progression for us to further embed First Peoples perspectives into our program and further develop relationships and connections with the Land.

We are committed to:

  • Developing an inclusive welcoming environment.
  • Making connections with Boon Wurrung/Bunurong Elders and inviting them to facilitate learning in a meaningful way with the children to drive greater understanding and change.
  • Building respectful and trusting relationships that can devise policies, practices and a program for all children that are inclusive of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families and our community.
